Wedding Ceremonies & Vow Renewals

Whether you're getting married for the first time, renewing your vows, or celebrating a love found later in life, I'll create a ceremony that's completely, unmistakably you. No generic scripts. No cookie-cutter moments. Just words, rituals, and memories crafted specifically for your relationship.

Types of Wedding Ceremonies I Love

  • Sarah-Russell-Logo-Element-1

    Outdoor Ceremonies

There's something magical about saying your vows under an open sky. I adore outdoor ceremonies where your guests can mingle with local wildlife, the air smells fresh, and the sun (or rain!) feels like a blessing on your special day. If you're dreaming of a woodland wedding, a garden celebration, or a beachside ceremony, count me in.

    Handfasting Ceremonies

Handfasting is one of my favourite rituals. Three months after my own wedding, my husband and I had a handfasting blessing at Gretna Green. The act of physically tying our hands together was so powerful and symbolic, especially after everything we'd been through.

Handfasting represents unity, partnership, and walking through life together. The ribbons can reflect your personalities, your hopes, your shared journey. It's tactile, visual, and deeply meaningful. It is something guests remember and couples treasure forever.

    Intimate Elopements

Sometimes the perfect wedding is just the two of you (and maybe a photographer). Intimate elopements can be incredibly powerful. All the focus is on your promises to each other with no distractions, just pure emotion. I'll create something beautiful and meaningful, just for you.

    Second Marriages & Later-in-Life Weddings

Finding love later in life or the second time around is something I understand personally. These ceremonies often feel even more meaningful because you know what you're choosing and why. Whether you want something quiet and reflective or a full celebration with everyone you love, I'll help you create it.

The Legal Bit (Don't Worry, It's Simple)

Here's the thing about celebrant-led weddings in England: I can create your perfect ceremony, but I can't legally marry you. That bit happens separately.

Most of my couples do a quick signing with a registrar at their local registry office. It takes about 15 minutes, costs around £350, and requires two witnesses. Some do it a few days before the ceremony, some do it the morning of. It's your choice.

Your real wedding is the meaningful celebration with vows, rituals, readings, and all your loved ones. That will be ceremony you craft with me. And that will be the day everyone remembers.

Why Choose Me as Your Celebrant?

I have been on the receiving end of a wedding ceremony that didn't quite hit the mark. And I've experienced the profound meaning of one that did. I know the difference, and I'm committed to giving you the latter.

With 30 years of experience working with people from all walks of life, I've learned to adapt my style while staying true to my values. Whether you're shy or adventurous, traditional or unconventional, I'll make sure your ceremony feels right for you.

And yes, I bring my finance background's attention to detail, but with warmth, empathy, and a genuine love for what I do.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should we book?

As early as possible! Popular dates (especially May-September Saturdays) book up quickly. That said, I can sometimes accommodate shorter notice if your date is available.
